Closing in on 1800 and Five of Six…

Manager Dave Miley has led the Yankees to a 78-56 record in 2012 and is 560-429 in seven seasons as the Yankees Triple-A Manager

FOUR WINS FROM 1800….
With four more wins in the regular season, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as a franchise will pick up win number 1,800 as a franchise.  Since 2007 as a Yankees affiliate the franchise has posted a 491-356 record (.578) counting the 78-56 record in 2012.  As the Red Barons the franchise went 1305-1268 (.507) from 1989-2006.  Overall the franchise is 1796-1624 (.525) in 24 seasons of baseball.

CLOSING IN ON FIVE DIVISON TITLES IN SIX YEARS…
With 10 games left in the regular season, the Yankees “magic number” to clinch the International League North sits at five.  Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has a 6.5 game lead over Pawtucket in the division and any combination of five Yankees wins and Paw Sox losses and the SWB will claim another divison crown. It would be the fifth under manager Dave Miley since 2007 and for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as a frnachise it would be the ninth in the history of the franchise (1992, 1999, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010).

CLOSER THAN THE RECORD APPEARS…
Friday night is the final game of the regular season against the Buffalo Bisons for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre who look to close out the regular season with an 11-5 record against their IL North foes.  The Yankees have won six in a row over Buffalo since dropping a pair of games at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse prior to the All-Star break.  Since the Yankees first year in Moosic (2007), SWB has never lost a season series to the Bisons winning four (2008/ 10-6, 2009 / 10-6, 2011 / 10-6 & 2012 / currently 10-5 with one to play) and tying twice (2007 & 2010 / 8-8).   Despite the dominance record wise, the Yankees have only outscored the Bisons by a total of three runs at 76-73 in head to head matchups.

STREAKING…
Melky Mesa doubled and homered on Thursday night to extend his hit streak to a season high nine games…He still has an also eight game hit streak intact with Double-A Trenton where he hit safely in his final eight games with the Thunder from July 24th – August 1st before getting his first promotion to Triple-A…Over his current nine game run with SWB Mesa is hitting .378 (14-37), with 8R, 4 2B, 4HR, 10RBI, BB, and 14K.  He has raised his average from .160 to .253 during his current streak.

EIGHT STRAIGHT…
The Yankees extended their season best win streak to eight games with another come from behind extra inning win on Thursday night in Buffalo picking up a 4-3 win in 11 innings.  The eight game streak is Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s longest win streak in 2012 and matches the Yankees eight game streak from August 18-27, 2010…The next streak on SWB’s radar is the 10 game winning streak put together by the 2008 team from July 10-22.  The Yankees won the last four before the All-Star break and the first six after the break in their Governors’ Cup winning season…The longest winning streak in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre franchise history was set by the 2009 Yankees squad who won 11 in a row to open the season from April 9–19.

The skipper sure has done(and still is doing) a great job managing the AAA Yankees.
