Yankees open up a series with a twin bill in Syracuse

SWB Yankees Game Notes for 8/12 @ Syracuse Game one of two:

8-12 Notes

RED HOT…
Chris Dickerson is currently riding an eight game hit streak (.500 (17-34), 10R, 2 2B, 3HR, 9RBI, 9BB, 6K, SF, 5SB) entering play on Sunday afternoon at Syracuse. The SWB outfielder has been on a bigger tear than just the last week however. Dickerson has hit in 16 of his last 17 games and is the top hitter in the IL dating back to July 21st, (.423 (30-71) with 18R, 4 2B, 1 3B, 6HR (see HR note below) and 15 RBI’s) which coincides with his longest hit streak of the season. Dickerson also hit in eight straight games from July 21-31 and after getting held hitless by Indianapolis on August 2nd, started his current seven game run.

STARTING WITH THE LONG BALL…
Chris Dickerson led off Friday’s game with his seventh home run of the season off Bisons starter Pedro Beato. It was the fifth time Dickerson has led off the Yankees first inning with a homer in 2012, the second time in SWB’s last three games and the third time since August 5th. He led off Wednesday’s game at Frontier Field against the Red Wings with a top of the first homer off Shairon Martis…All of Dickerson’s first inning leadoff homers have come since July 17th. He led off the July 17th game at Frontier Field for SWB in the bottom of the first inning with a HR against Charlie Shirek of Charlotte. Dickerson took a Knights pitcher deep to start the game for a second time when he led off the game at Charlotte on July 26th with a homer off Simon Castro. The first of Dickerson three lead off homers this week came on August 5th off Indianapolis’ Rick Vanden Hurk.
