Maine heads to the bump for series finale against Rochester

Below is a link to photos from today’s HOPE Week events at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY. Today members of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and Rochester Red Wings spent time on the field with groups of kids from the Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball Organization, as well as the Boys and Girls Club of America.

John Maine makes his first start of the season against Rochester and his first since the 2006 season when the right hander was pitching with the Ottawa Lynx coming up in the Baltimore minor league system…Maine makes his seventh career start against the Red Wings and has posted a 1-3 record and a 4.02 ERA (14ER/31.1IP) with 16BB, 23K and a .232 (26-112) average against…The right hander is 5-3 on the season for the Yankees in 11games with 10 starts and a 5.23 ERA (30ER/51.2IP)… Maine signed a Minor League deal with New York on May 25th after beginning spring training with the Boston Red Sox and pitching in extended spring into early May…The right hander has pitched in parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues with Baltimore (’04-’05) and the New York Mets (’06-’10) posting a 41-36 record with a 4.35 ERA…He has pitched in the IL with Ottawa (’04-’05), Norfolk (’06) and Buffalo (’10)…Maine’s last outing against Indianapolis resulted in no decision with 5.0 IP at Frontier Field with 6H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 5K and a hit batsman.

Chris Dickerson led off Wednesday’s game with his sixth home run of the season on a 2-1 pitch from Shairon Martis. It was the fourth time Dickerson has led off the Yankees first inning with a homer in 2012 and the third time he has done it at Frontier Field. All of his first inning leadoff homers have come since July 17th. Dickerson led off the July 17th game at Frontier Field with a HR against Charlie Shirek of Charlotte, hit a top of the first leadoff at Charlotte on July 26th off Simon Castro, and hit a bottom of the first inning homer on August 5th off Rick Vanden Hurk before Wednesday HR off Martis.
