Yankees and Red Wings take the field for the second time today

Brandon Laird drove home four runs in the Yankees 9-2 win on Monday over Rochester and is now the Yankees leader in runs batted in with 67. Laird picked up RBI’s in the first and in the second on singles and hit his 13th homer of the season off former SWB Yankees outfielder Matt Carson who was forced to the mound for an inning due to a depleted Red Wings bullpen. Laird’s total ranks third amongst IL players this season and he trails Ernesto Mejia of Gwinnett (82) and Dan Johnson of Charlotte (72).

The Yankees and Red Wings will combine efforts on Wednesday and Thursday for HOPE Week, a NY Yankees charitable initiative started in 2009 and also followed by the Minnesota Twins since 2011. The Yankees and Red Wings will host a Challenger Little League game at Frontier Field on Wednesday from 12pm- 1pm and hold a pair of baseball clinics for the Hispanic Youth Baseball League of Rochester from 11am – 12pm and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester on Thursday, from 1pm to 2pm. On both days, Yankees and Red Wings players will join the participants for lunch and a meet and greet.
