SWB YANKEES GAME NOTES – Game #102 (Road #46) @ Gwinnett
7-22 Notes

ON TOP OF THE
NORTH…

With the Yankees 13-8 win on Saturday night over Gwinnett and losses by Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is in first place in the International League’s North Division since May 16, 2011, a span of 205 games in between stays atop the division.  The Yankees moved into first place on April 16, 2011 and held the top spot until a 7-3 loss to Lehigh Valley on May 17, 2011 dropped SWB one game behind the Iron Pigs.  The Yankees finished 8.0 games behind 2011 North Division winner Pawtucket and did not regain the top spot in the North again until Last night.

HIGH WATER MARK…
With Saturday’s win, SWB moved to a season high 11 games over .500. It’s the first time the Yankees have been at least 11 games over the breakeven point since the end of the 2010 regular season when SWB finished the year at 86-57, winning their fourth consecutive IL North Division title.

GARNER’S GRANNY…
Cole Garner’s first inning Gran Slam was the first in 80 at bats for the Yankees in 2012 with the bases loaded.  It was also the first for the team since Kevin Russo hit a “Granny” on July 15, 2011 at Fifth Third Field in Toledo off the Mud Hens Enrique Gonzalez and was the 57th hit by a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre player in franchise history.

DAMN YANKEES…
The Yankees have had great success against the IL South in 2012 winning 17 of 26 games played against the division.  SWB has won 13 of its last 15 games against South Division teams, including six in a row over the Gwinnett Braves.  In six games against the Braves this season, the Yankees have outscored Gwinnett 52-23.
