Yankees continue homestand in Rochester, Figueroa looks for team best 8th win
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees Game Notes 7/18
OPPORTUNITY MISSED…
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre missed out on an opportunity to move into a first place tie in the IL North with Tuesday’s loss to Charlotte. SWB’s last day in first place in the IL North was May 16, 2011. The Yankees, who held a 4-2 lead heading to the eighth inning would have pulled even with Lehigh Valley, who lost to Durham 8-6 on Tuesday night. With the SWB loss, coupled with a Pawtucket win over Syracuse, the Yankees dropped from second to third in the North and remain one game out of first place.
A RARE LATE INNING SURRENDER…
Charlotte came back on the Yankees Tuesday night with two in the eighth inning to tie the game and one in the ninth to secure a come from behind 5-4 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It was just the third time in 44 games that the Yankees failed to close out a game when leading after seven innings.
