Back home in Rochester for four with the Knights

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Charlotte square off for the first time in the 2012 season. Both teams come into the series as playoff teams had the season ended today. The Knights hold a four game advantage over the Norfolk Tides, while Scranton/Wilkes-Barre currently holds the wild card lead and trails the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by one game in the International League North. The Knights and Yankees split the 2011 series 4-4 with each team winning both two games at home, as well as on the road. Since Scranton/Wilkes-Barre became the Yankees Triple-A affiliate in 2007, the Yankees are 23-16 against the Knights, including a 13-6 record at PNC Field and a 10-10 record at Knights Stadium. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre holds a 97-83 advantage all time against the Knights with a 51-39 record at home and a 46-44 advantage on the road.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees are currently second in the International League North, just one game behind the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. With yesterday’s win, the Yankees picked up another game on the IronPigs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre basically controls its own destiny with 29 of the remaining scheduled games being against IL North rivals. Of those 29 contests, 16 of them come against either the Pawtucket Red Sox or the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. As of today, the Yankees are the leaders in the International League Wild Card leading the Pawtucket Red Sox by 0.5 games. Heading into the series opener in Syracuse last Thursday night, the Yankees were four games out, but they picked up 1.5 games due to both Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley losing their games that night.

Forecast from Partly cloudy with temperatures falling into the low 70s. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Can you explain roster situation? The SWB site is outdated. Justin Thomas is active. That makes 27 guys for 25 spots with the signing of Fukudome. Who are the odd men out? Russ Branyan? Manny Delcarmen? P. Claiborne? Jason Bulger?

Branyan and Bulger are on the disabled list.

MLBAM (Major League Baseball Assisted Media) are the people that update all of the rosters and stats for all of the websites in Minor League Baseball (which is why they have a uniform look) as Josh stated, the SWB active roster sits at 25. But your point is a valid one, too many players (when all are healthy) and not enough spots for them.
